4th Grade Assignments

On 8/26/2011 I attached a revised copy of the math homework sheet in case your student needs an extra one at home.
On 8/30/2011 I attached several samples of how specific math problem would look on the Homework sheet. Please let me know if there are others you would like to see addressed.

Math: On page 191 do problem "b" only. Vocabulary Quiz on Friday. Multiplication Quiz over 5's -12's on Friday.
Reading: In textbook, read story on page 251.
Health: Look for materials for collage.
Spelling Assignments due on Friday.
Spelling Test on Friday.

Math Vocabulary Quiz (Students have glued foldables in the back of their math journals with the words and definitions.)
Multiplication Quiz (Grades weren't so good last Friday so we will try the 12's, 11's, 10's, and 9's again.)

Prepositions Quiz (Students need to memorize the Preposition Jingle. The Preposition Jingle is in the Jingle Section in the Orange folder. Jingle # 8)

Can't believe we are about to finish our 4th week of school!!

Tomorrow is the math vocabulary test, multiplication quiz over the 11's and 12's and a spelling test.

Math homewok is on page 79.

If students did not finish writing their paragraph and coloring their watershed models, they need to do that tonight also.

We did two pages in the Reading workbook in class today. I think most everyone finished in class. If not, they need to finish page 46 & 48.

Finish Math Investigation 1 which we started in class. Be sure to look at the questions in the book. The questions on the worksheet are sometimes incomplete.

Read The Power of W.O.W. on page 96 in the Reading textbook.

Review the Texas Rivers. Quiz tomorrow. They must be able to label the rivers on a map. They will be given a list of river names to choose from. River maps are attached.

Review the 11's so you will be prepared for the multiplication quiz on Friday. The quiz will be on the 11's and 12's only.

Study the multiplication facts!  Especially the 12's.  Quiz on Friday, September 9th.  Try the games on the websites below.

MATH: Complete homework on page 57, 1-30. Study math vocabulary words that are in the foldable in the back of the math journal. Multiplicatin quiz tomorrow. Study the 12's only. 1 x 12 all the way to 12 x 12.

SPELLING: Spelling test tomorrow. Spelling gallery due tomorrow. Several students finished the gallery in class today.

SOCIAL STUDIES: Study the Texas Rivers. The map and mnemonic are in their Social Studies Journal. I attached these files yesterday if you can't find the journal.

Math: page 53, #1-5, 16-20 and 25-30
Spelling: Finish page 28 in workbook if it was not completed in class.
Social Studies: Study the rivers of Texas. Students labeled a map and glued it in their Science/Social Studies/Health journals. They also wrote down two mnemonic devices to help them learn the rivers. I have also attached the map and mnemonic devices.

Math homework: page 37; #5-12, 15, 16, 19, 20, 25-28. (Many of the students finished this in class.)

Students need to review the water cycle diagram that is in their science journals. They will have a test tomorrow which entails them drawing a water cycle poster. The only items they must label correctly are precipitation, condensation and evaporation. They also must draw the arrows correctly.

Write a sentence for each spelling word. You may include two spelling words in one sentence.
