Course Description
Hola/Hello! My name is Yvonne Rangel. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a BBA in Marketing. I am certified to teach Spanish for 6th - 12th graders and also to teach Generalist core subjects for 4th - 8th grades. I have been teaching for 13 years. I am starting my 8th year to teach at Abbott ISD. I love working at Abbott!
This year I will be teaching Spanish 1, 2, 3, and College and Careers Readiness class for 8th graders.
In Spanish 3 we will continue to learn vocabulary and verb tenses to be used in writing more complex sentences. We will also be viewing an educational soap opera in Spanish to expose students to real world cultural awareness. We will be cooking recipes from the different countries we will be studying about. Students will also be performing for the elementary students a project of their choice by Christmas break.
My conference period will be 3rd period:
Monday- Friday 10:00-10:45 am
Students may come in before school and/or during break time to do make-up or retake work and tutoring. That is also the time students may come in to get their extra credit bonus points. Please see attached file for High School Grading Policy for my classes. I allow students to retake tests or quizzes they may not have scored a 70 or above on, no corrections for high school students nor 8th graders in Spanish 1 since it is a high school course.
Notifications of upcoming quizzes, tests, and projects will be communicated via Remind text messages.
